The Journey to Better Health Begins
Welcome to “Live a More Natural Life”. The purpose of this website is to explore alternatives to traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals, to stimulate thought on why we live the way we do and do the things we do when it comes to our health, and present ideas on how we can live healthier, more active, productive lives. Hopefully, things you read here will challenge you or peak your curiosity to delve deeper into the subject of health alternatives.
Taking a pharmaceutical pill to lower your cholesterol? Why? Have you done any research into your condition? Have you considered alternatives or are you just blindly following what your doctor says? I’m not saying don’t take the pill. I don’t know anything about you; I’m not a doctor and I don’t presume to give medical advice, but I can say you owe it to yourself to consider all possibilities when it comes to your health, your life. This is my challenge to you through this website: take charge of your health; no one cares as much about you as you do. Work with your doctor or health care professional, don’t just be a passive recipient for whatever they tell you or prescribe for you.
Don’t wait until you have health issues to take action. There is not one of us who is in absolutely perfect health; we all can make improvements, be they in our diets, in exercise, or in the vitamins and supplements we choose, so be proactive in matters of your health. Look for ways to improve your quality of life. You have the rest of your life ahead of you. You owe it to yourself to live it in optimum health.
With your health there is no end game, no point at which you can say, “I’m through. I’ve done all I can.” There are also no absolutes. Be very skeptical of anyone who says, “This is the absolute, irrefutable truth.” Remember, at one point, it was accepted traditional medical practice to bleed people to rid them of “vapors”. Remember, too, the debacle with Vioxx. Question. Research. Study. Learn. This is a journey of discovery and learning. If this is new to you, the whole subject may seem overwhelming. In the “Tao Te Ching”, Lao-tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” (Think it was Confucius and not Lao-tzu who said this? Question. Research. Study. Learn.) Take that first step. Begin your journey. To your good health!
